Enter the Storm NA day one wrap up: Nova, Vikings, and more

I hope you like off-meta picks, because today was full of them.

Coverage Hub - Event Website

The first day of Enter the Storm NA playoffs is over and it did not disappoint. Today's games have clearly shown a diversity in the NA meta as everything from Nova to The Lost Vikings were picked, although some more successful than others. So if you're a fan of interesting niche picks, you can check out our replay section for downloadable in-game replays.

Those who lost today are down, but not out. They still have a chance to redeem themselves in the loser's bracket. Tomorrow's games however will be do or die. If they can't find their momentum they will be eliminated.

Bob Ross Fan Club vs eLevate Heroes

If we're being honest, there were no surprises here. BRFC is an incredibly strong team of pro and high mmr players that you should expect nothing less than domination from. They are the clear favorites to win ETS NA #1 and are hands down the scariest team in the brackets. As impressive as they are though, they aren't invincible as evidenced by Team Blank's victory over them in the Heroes Rising qualifier.

Panda Global vs Team Blaze

Well known by now for their interesting comps and builds, Team Blaze did not disappoint today. Uther and Zeratul seem like fairly standard picks, especially the Uther, but you know what isn't standard? Divine Storm, Vampiric Strike and Burning Rage. Whether it was a pocket strat, or a direct counter to Panda Global's surprising Vikings pick, we may never know, but we do know that Team Blaze continue to innovate and continue to see success.

Team Blaze is the team to watch out for if you like innovative, unique strategies.

Murloc Geniuses vs 2Arc Gaming

This is the only match up today where, admittedly, I had no idea what might happen. Both teams are known for strange, somewhat aggressive comps (especially Murloc Geniuses) and they have both had decent success throughout their careers. I mentioned in a previous article that I would have to give a slight edge to MG simply because of their experience against teams like Cloud 9 and Tempo Storm. This turned out to be true, although Sunshine (2Arc's main tank) being at a wedding certainly didn't help their chances, or our love of Cho'Gall. Also, there was some kind of Nova pick or something in there by Murloc Geniuses. Just the thing they needed to take down those squishy mages.

Team Blank vs Gale Force eSports

It may have been 2-0 for Gale Force eSports, but these games were anything but a stomp. This was probably the most action packed series today with tons of kills on both sides and back and forth pushes the entire time. Unfortunately for Team Blank they weren't able to take a game off of GFE, but they definitely did not lose for lack of trying. If you're into Falstad at all, you may want to check out these games as Ballinbeast played him both times to great success.

We'll be back with more NA action tomorrow starting at 3:00 pm EST. You can catch all the games live casted by the one and only Khaldor on his channel.

Don't forget that you can bet on all these matches for free and win some sweet ROCCAT gear in the process. For more information, check out our GosuBet December contest hub.
